In 2014, we – Till and Götz – founded Carpetlight. We both come from the professional film lighting industry and have worked for many years as gaffers and lighting designers on international feature film productions, high-quality series formats, and more than a thousand commercial film productions.
It is precisely from this experience that our story begins – with a simple question.
Why is professional lighting so heavy, so delicate, and so complicated?
The Claim
When a new generation of LEDs became available, we were impressed by their spectral quality. At the same time, we were astonished by how massive the housings were, how fragile many designs were, and how elaborate existing solutions were just to make this technology usable.
Our goal was therefore clear from the outset: to build a light that is lightweight, offers excellent lighting properties, and withstands mechanical stresses where other systems fail.
This resulted in a lighting system that quickly found its place in professional film lighting – in international commercial film productions, major series, and cinematic productions. Everywhere where mobility, precision, and durability are required simultaneously.

DNA
This origin is still an important part of our DNA today. There, we learned that light not only has to work, but must be exact, repeatable, and reliable. That every detail counts. That quality becomes visible.
And that professional users immediately judge a product by whether it delivers on its promises at the crucial moment.
The Turning Point
It became increasingly clear to us that the true strength of our technology extends far beyond the realm of film lighting. This is because there are fields of application where reliability is not just about a good result, but about safety, supplies, and, ultimately, human lives.
The move into the areas of defense, medical, and NGOs was therefore not a departure from our origins, but a logical consequence. Here, it is no longer about creating the best image. Here, it is about finding people, providing medical care, and reliably providing light in critical situations.
Our products are aimed at users who must rely on their equipment—under time pressure, in wet conditions, dirt, during transport, and under changing operating conditions.
The Solution
We couldn't simply rely on existing technologies for our idea. Most available systems were either lightweight or robust, flexible or reliable, bright or resilient — but not all at once. So, we created our own technical foundation.
Where traditional systems rely on cables, delicate connections, solder joints, or complex housings, our solution avoids traditional cables at critical points. What cannot break, tear, or kink becomes the basis for true reliability.
Through collaborative research projects, including those with the Fraunhofer Institute, and numerous in-house developments, we have built up unique expertise over many years. The resulting patents reflect our ambition: we develop our own solutions when a better one doesn't yet exist.
Production
All our products are manufactured in Germany. We do not refine cheap panels from the Far East and label them "Made in Germany." We build products we can be proud of—with extensive technical expertise, professional competence, good working conditions, and an uncompromising commitment to quality.
We make no compromises. Not in development. Not in manufacturing. And not in the responsibility our products assume in use.
There are situations where the light must not fail. For precisely these situations, we build.
